Cameroon’s Njie Enow bags international award

Celebrated Cameroonian reporter Njie Enow Ebai, has returned home with a bronze medal from the 2023 International Sports Press Association (AIPS) award courtesy of his stunning piece titled; ‘Remembering Marco; The inspirational life, tragic death and the legacy of Marc-Vivien Foe.’

The organizers announced Njie and other winners this week after the jury meticulously shortlisted the pieces for the podium.

Njie, former head of the sports desk at the Cameroon Radio and Television was shortlisted for two categories, but the piece on Marco fetched him the deserved award.

The interesting feature story which touched on Foe’s life before he passed on and how things unfolded after his death fetched thousands of readers and positive feedback even before it was submitted for the AIPS award.

Over the years, Njie has picked up a number of awards, but this one from an international body like AIPS is telling of how far the craftsman has come.

Njie has curved a niche for himself as one of the best Cameroonian writers of his generation and contributes to multiple outlets across the globe including FIFA Communications.

Besides writing, he does Radio and Television Television commentaries. Last year, Njie was knighted for the quality of work commentaries delivered for the Cameroon Radio and Television during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament on home soil.

He is the only Cameroonian winner from the global contest this year and looks destined for more in the years to come.
