Cameroonian volleyball player Fawziya Abdoulkarim, known for her remarkable skills on the court, has decided to retire from professional play.

The announcement was made on her Facebook page, marking the end of an era. Abdoulkarim’s illustrious career includes representing Cameroon in major tournaments such as the 2014 Women’s World Volleyball Championship in Italy and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Her contributions were pivotal in securing the gold medal for Cameroon at the 2017 African Women’s Volleyball Championship.

In a heartfelt message, Abdoulkarim expressed her gratitude to her teammates, coaches, medical staff, volunteers, and supporters who made her journey possible. She emphasized the pride she feels in her professional accomplishments and wished everyone well in their future endeavors.

“Last match of the season which also marks the end of my career as a professional player of which I am very proud. Thank you to all my teammates, the technical, physical and medical staff, the volunteers and supporters without whom all this would not have been possible. But this isn’t the end of her volleyball journey. Fawziya Abdoulkarim, now 35 years old, will remain connected to the sport. She is set to become a coach for the French team Volley-Ball Pays Viennois (VBPV).

The club announced that she will transition from player to full-time coach, bringing her wealth of experience and talent to guide the team. Her impact both on and off the court will continue to resonate with fans and fellow athletes alike.
