Former Indomitable Lions of Cameroon defender Ebwelle Ndinge Bertin has been appointed interim deputy coach of the U-17 national team of Cameroon, kick442.com can report.
A release spotted on social media this Monday, reveals that the 60-year-old who was deputy trainer of the team between 2014-17 returns to the den.
Before his appointment, he was head coach of Cameroon’s U15 national team and had a range of part time responsibilities at a range of clubs.
The former Cotonsport of Garoua coach and 2018 Cameroon League winner is expected to beef up the staff that has been understrength through their preparations for the 2023 U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) due to the health of head coach Jean Pierre Fiala Fiala.
Ebwelle, Cameron’s deputy coach during the 2015 U-17 and 2017 AFCON is expected to work with the rest of the staff in preparations for the defending Champions for their next tournament in Algeria which starts in late April.
Cameroon are the defending champions of the competition.
They won the competition in Tanzania back in 2019.
The TotalEnergies U17 AFCON 2023 will run from the 29th of April to 19th of May 2023, in Algeria and Cameroon is in Pool C.
Cameroon, who also won the title in 2003 share the group with fellow double-champions in Mali.
2011 champions Burkina Faso and debutants South Sudan complete a tricky Group C.
