Colombe Dja have suspended striker Junior Rostand Mbai, midfielder Onanina Koufle Julien and two other players for a “repeated breach of discipline, Insolence, absence from training” the club’s board chair Desire Dikoume said in a release on Saturday.
Defender Louis Tazoh Afuanjih and goalkeeper Souleyman Souleyman are the others set to have abandoned duty on numerous occasions in the past weeks.
On the aspect of indiscipline and insolence, the board didn’t provide details and did not say what Mbai, Onanina, Tazoh and Souleyman had done, but said their services would no longer be required by the South Region club.
“The players whose names have been mentioned are suspended from the Colombe squad for the 2022/23 season,” part of the club statement confirmed they won’t play for the team again this year.
Though the club has been struggling since the start of 2023, they have to set an example for the other players in the squad ahead of their game against Cotonsport on Tuesday.

Former Dragon and Astres striker Mbai started the season well, scoring two goals and provided four assists. Unfortunately the 2018 MTN Elite One top scorer has suffered a terrible deep in form, which has affected the club in the past months.
On his part, Souleyman who returned to the club in the build up to the current season hasn’t shown any signs of a changed person. The keeper who completed a five-game suspension from the season at Eding Sport before making his debut for Colombe is a subject of another controversy.
Onanina and Tazoh don’t have history of unprofessional behavior – but once upon a time begins a story.
Colombe faces Cotonsport this Tuesday in Garoua in a delayed MTN Elite One championship game.
