Zambian Premier League champions will face Simba SC of Tanzania in the second preliminary rounds of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League. The appointment was confirmed on Saturday, August 26 after Bobwa Boyeli’s goal in the half hour mark at home helped them to a 2-2 aggregate win on away goal rules against African Stars.
The Zambian side entered the contest at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium on 1-2 deficit from the reversed fixture, but their dominance paid off.
Though Young Boys pushed for a goal especially after conceding, Bong Lionel Ngong and co defended resolutely to keep a clean sheet.
The 1-0 victory plus the 1-2 score in the reversed fixture makes it an aggregate win on away goal for Power Dynamos.
Power advances to the next round of the competition where they will face Simba SC who secured a spot in the second round by virtue of their status in the CAF interclub competitions rankings.
The fixture will be a repeat of the pre-season fixture which Simba SC won by 2-0 earlier in the season and a reunion of former Buea boy Che Malone Fondoh Junior of Simba SC and Bong of Power Dynamos.
