It is now certain that Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda, YOSA, will play in the elite One championship come the 2023/2024 football season after their brilliant 0#2 victory against Eding Sports of Lekie in the relegation playoffs.

One of the outstanding performers responsible for YOSA’s rare clean sheet is goalkeeper Bessong Chrysantus Mesas.

After starting for YOSA on the first day of play against Bamboutos of Mbouda, Bessong Chrysantus Mesas didn’t play any other match until today when he was called upon to start at goal for YOSA.

Bessong Chrysantus celebrating after the match

Since after his start and defeat on the first day of play, Bessong Chrysantus Mesas lost his position to Ekoi Manfred Mekumba who played the entire season.

However, sources say Ekoi Manfred failed to resume training after the defeat against Astres and the YOSA technical bench had to give Bessong Chrysantus the confidence to start at goal.

How the once rejected Bessong Chrysantus Mesas who didn’t have the confidence of his peers became their saviour.

In the first half of the match against Eding, Bessong Chrysantus Mesas pulled out a top class save to deny Eding from opening scores.

He did same on several occasions in the course of the match and was the master of his defense as he commanded the players very well.

Bessong Chrysantus has therefore kept one of the rare cleensheet for YOSA this season.

Chris as he is fondly call will go down in history as the goalkeeper who kept a clean sheet on the day YOSA needed it most.
