AFCONQ: Lameck Banda’s brace lifts Zambia past Lesotho

Lameck Banda scored two second-half goals to ensure that Chipolopolo of Zambia secure a 3-1 win over Lesotho in the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers on Thursday.

Zambia had to come from a goal down at the Lewy Nwanawasa Stadium, Ndola to pick a win.

Tshwarelo Bereng opened the scoring for Lesotho in the 33rd minute.

Zambia responded four minutes later when Emmanuel Banda located Fashion Sakala who converted the equaliser.

After the interval, Kings Kangwa set up Lameck Banda who gave Zambia the lead for the first time in the game in the 53rd minute.

Four minutes later, Banda bagged his brace to extend Zambia’s lead.

Zambia moved to the top of Group H with six points ahead of Ivory Coast (4 points), Comoros (3 points), and Lesotho (1 point).

Zambia will face Lesotho at the Dobsonville Stadium, Johannesburg.
