AFCON 2023: Cote D’Ivoire to face DR Congo without four key players

The elephants of Cote D’Ivoire will play against the Democratic Republic of Congo on Wednesday February 7, 2024, in one of the semi finals matches of thr ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

As both teams prepare to battle for a place in the finale of the tournament, the host nation Cote D’Ivoire will be without four key players.

Odilon Kossounou and Diakite Oumar who received a red card each against Mali will be suspended for the match while team captain Serge Aurier and striker Christian Kouame will also be suspended for accumulated yellow cards.

Their absence can have a significant impact on the match. These players played crucial roles in the ivorian journey to the semi final. However, DR Congo will have to remain vigilant work hard if they want to secure a place in the final.

The match to be played at the Alassane Ouatara Olympic stadium will be witness by thousands of fans from both countries.

It has been confirmed that Félix Tshisekedi, President of the DR Congo will be present to watch the match.
