Despite missing a penalty, Leandre Kana Tawamba scored his first goal in two months as his Saudi Arabia Pro club beat Al Khaleef 2-0 at the Prince Mohamed Bin Fahd Stadium in an advanced match day 27 fixture on Monday.

Tawamba and Paraguayan forward Alejandro Romero scored within seven minutes from the hour mark as the visitors continued their brilliant run of results, making it three wins in the last three games.

The former Partizan Belgrade man whose last goal was on March 17 in a 1-1 draw away to Al We had found the breakthrough goal at the hour mark on Monday night, courtesy of a solo effort.

Romero doubled coach Péricles Chamusca side’s advantage in the 67th minute before Tawamba squandered a gilt-edged opportunity to make it 3-0 by missing awarded after a VAR Review.

The hosts held on, earned maximum points and a clean sheet to climb up to the fifth spot with 46 points from 27 games so far in the Saudi Pro championship.

32-year-old Tawamba has scored six goals, made two assists in 26 league games this season in Saudi Arabia.

He could add to his tally next Monday when they welcome Al Ta’ee of international colleague Fai Collins Ngoran.
