Dragon FC of Yaounde’s nine-year stay in the top-flight championship is over – after they were beaten 3-0 by Bamboutos FC of Mbouda on Sunday.

Junior Kemajou hit a hat-trick as the Mangwa Boys romped to victory, taking his season tally to 11, and sending Dragon down to the Elite 2 Championship in humbling fashion.

Victory for the Cha Cha Boys would have taken them to within nine points of 9th-placed YOSA, and given them a sniff of survival with three games to go.

However, they were never in the game, and will return to the second tier after nine season in the top-flight.

The club’s tenth defeat in 17 games confirmed the Cha Cha Boys had come to the end of their time in the division, nine years after Minkreo Birwe inspired their promotion.

Coach Stephane Edjangue’s team only managed one win in 17 games, drawing six others, in what has been nothing short of a miserable season.

Dragon currently top Pool B from the bottom, 10 points away from YAFOOT FC also in the relegation zone.

Their best season since their return to the top-flight championship was the 2018/19 during which Dragon reached the title playoff and ended third.

They are the first of five clubs to be relegated from the top-flight at the end of the current season.
