Lekie Filles midfielder Tantoh Melvis Ngifor believes the club are challenging for their first title since creation because there are “no bad eggs” in one of the hardest-working squads in the Guinness Super League.

Coach Stephane Ndzana’s girls won ten of their 11 matches in the first round of the third edition of the Guinness Super League championship to cement top spot, five points better than second seeded Eclair of Sa’a, and eight points ahead of arch-rivals Louves Minprof who are ranked third.

It is the first time Lekie have been this high at this stage of the season and they have a chance of winning the league for the first time after being promoted in 2022.

Tantoh in a recent interview with kick442.com pointed out what could be behind their commanding results so far.

Everyone in this group works hard and is working towards the same objective,” the Cameroon international told this portal on Thursday.

“Even the players who don’t play are still working hard in training and doing all the right things to try to get into the team, which is important.

“If you have one or two bad eggs, it can bring others down — luckily we don’t have that.”

The former Awa Ladies midfielder metronome, who has scored two goals for Lekie this season, praised the club’s manager Stephane Ndzana, whose philosophy has reaped rewards as the team counts 31 of a possible 33 points from 11 matches.

Lekie have been widely acclaimed as one of the hardest working sides in the top-flight with the players covering more ground and making more passes than most other teams.

Ndzana’s insistence on this high pressing game has paid dividends, with the team conceding only five league goals, the lowest in the league this season.

They are equally the most offensive efficient in the championship with 38 goals scored so far.

They also have the best goal difference of +33 with seven clean sheets in 11 games.

Tantoh, winner of back-to-back Guinness Super League titles with Awa Ladies before joining Lekie will be crucial to the rest of their season.
