Defending MTN Elite One champions Colombe Sportive du Dja et Lobo made a winning return to domestic action, defeating PWD Bamenda 2-0 at the Ngoa-Ekelle Stadium in Yaoundé on Sunday to begin their delayed 2026/27 campaign in style.

After postponing their league start to concentrate on their CAF Champions League campaign, Colombe finally opened their domestic season with a convincing performance against the Abakwa Boys in a Matchday Three encounter.

Adam Musah gave the reigning champions the perfect start, breaking the deadlock in the 16th minute to put Colombe in front. The early goal settled the hosts and provided a platform for them to control proceedings against a PWD Bamenda side searching for a response.

Colombe maintained their advantage for much of the encounter, showing the organisation and composure expected of defending champions. PWD attempted to find a way back into the contest, but their efforts to breach Colombe’s defence proved unsuccessful.

The champions eventually sealed the three points deep into stoppage time when Kevin Ndzana struck in the 90+8th minute to make it 2-0. His late effort put the finishing touch on Colombe’s return to Elite One and ensured their first league appearance of the campaign ended in victory.

The result marks an encouraging start to Colombe’s title defence following their CAF Champions League exploits, with the club now turning their attention back to the domestic championship. For PWD Bamenda, the defeat represents a setback as they continue their search for consistency in the early stages of the season.
