Bryan Mbeumo continued his impressive goalscoring form for Manchester United, but his latest effort was not enough to secure victory, while fellow Cameroon international Carlos Baleba also featured as the Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw by Leeds United.

Mbeumo put United ahead with a composed finish, continuing his recent run in front of goal and once again showing why he has become one of the club’s most important attacking outlets.

The Cameroon forward had already found the net in his previous Premier League outing and carried that confidence into another lively display. His movement, direct running and willingness to attack the Leeds defence made him a constant threat.

But Mbeumo’s individual brilliance could only take United so far.

Leeds fought back after the interval to level the contest, leaving United frustrated despite having taken the lead. The Red Devils were unable to find a second goal, meaning Mbeumo’s contribution ultimately earned them only a point.

There was another Cameroonian presence on the pitch, with Carlos Baleba featuring for Manchester United and adding further interest to an encounter that brought two members of the Indomitable Lions together on the Premier League stage.

For Cameroon, the performances of Mbeumo and Baleba will be encouraging ahead of the country’s upcoming international commitments. Mbeumo is continuing to demonstrate his attacking quality, while Baleba remains an important part of the new generation of Cameroonian midfielders making their mark at the highest level.

For United, however, the frustration continues. Mbeumo is scoring, Baleba is contributing, but the points are still proving difficult to collect.

The Cameroon stars may have done their part, but it was ultimately not enough to help Manchester United turn their advantage into victory.
