Cameroonian defender Nana Sidoine Chounkwi Fogning has every reason to celebrate after helping ŠK Slovan Bratislava clinch the 2025/26 Slovak Niké Liga title with two matches still left in the season.

The championship success sees Slovan Bratislava crowned Slovak champions for an astonishing eighth consecutive season, further underlining their dominance in domestic football. The Bratislava-based side once again proved untouchable in the league, wrapping up the title early thanks to a consistent run of results and a squad packed with quality and experience.

Founded in 1919, Slovan remain the most successful club in Slovak football history and one of the most respected sides in Central Europe. Their latest title not only adds another trophy to their cabinet but also guarantees qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League qualifiers, meaning Nana Sidoine is in line to feature on Europe’s biggest club stage with his team.

The left-footed central defender joined Slovan on loan from Portuguese club Boavista in August 2025 and has steadily integrated into the squad. Though not yet a regular starter, Sidoine played his part in the title-winning season, featuring in four league matches and logging over 300 minutes in league action, while also making appearances in other competitions.

Before his move abroad, the defender made his name in Cameroon with Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) during the era of former club president Chido Mitterrand, a period during which several talents emerged from the Bamenda-based club.

Standing at 1.95m, Nana Sidoine is known for his composure on the ball, physical dominance and strong left foot — qualities that have helped him transition from Cameroon to Portugal and now to a championship-winning environment in Slovakia.

Winning the Slovak title is already a huge milestone, but the prospect of featuring in the UEFA Champions League next season could mark the next major chapter in the Cameroonian’s career as he continues his rise in European football.
