  • Cameroonian defender Michael Ngadeu Ngadjui has denied authoring a political message circulating on social media, calling it fake and not from him
  • He addressed the issue via his Facebook page and shared a screenshot of the clarification on his verified Instagram account
  • The false quote surfaced amid rising political tension in Cameroon ahead of the October 12 presidential election, where most footballers, including Ngadeu, have kept their distance

Cameroon international Michael Ngadeu Ngadjui has denied authoring a political message that has been circulating on social media, describing it as fake and not from him.

The central defender addressed the situation through his personal Facebook page, where he made it clear he had nothing to do with the statement. He then shared a screenshot of his clarification on his verified Instagram account.

The false quote, which appears to have first surfaced on Snapchat, was widely shared across group chats and Facebook pages, sparking speculation about his involvement in political matters.

Ngadeu wrote on Tuesday August 5,2025;

“Hello everyone, For a few days, a message has been circulating on social networks that is attributed to me.
I would like to inform the national public that it is not from me. As you know, the only official channel through which I speak has always been my Facebook page ‘Ngadeu Ngadjui Michael’. Cameroon, our dear and beautiful country, is a treasure that we all share. Together, let’s continue to build a better future by cultivating peace. Thank you.”

The fake post, which was widely shared across WhatsApp and Facebook groups, reads:

“But what country are we in exactly?? A pre-election dispute that is supposed to be public is completely forbidden to us and even live broadcasts via social networks are systematically forbidden.
At some point, you have to stop. It’s not possible.
In any case, if it’s not in the morning, it will be in the evening… let’s just go ❤️”

Ngadeu’s denial comes at a sensitive time. Cameroon is in an election year, with presidential polls scheduled for October 12. Over the past week, the Constitutional Council has been reviewing appeals from 35 candidates whose applications were rejected by ELECAM. The process has drawn significant public interest especially since the appeal of Cameroons top opposition Maurice Kamto was rejected.

Footballers in Cameroon are known to distance themselves from politics, apart from the time the Cameroon Football Federation president Samuel Eto’o endorsed the candidacy of President Paul Biya back in 2018. For this presidential race, the FA president has been silent.
