The Cameroon U17 women’s national team cruised to a resounding 5-0 victory over Egypt in the first leg of the U17 World Cup qualifiers at the 30 June Stadium.
14-year-old sensation Angel Tanazou was the standout performer, putting on a masterclass with a hat trick that left the Egyptian defense in tatters.
She opened the scoring in the 25th minute, pouncing on a loose ball in the penalty area after an Egyptian clearance went awry, slotting it home with precision.
Just three minutes later, Tanazou turned provider, setting up Nkoussa Divine for a well-placed finish that doubled Cameroon’s lead. The Bansoa Sports Academy prodigy continued to wreak havoc, winning a penalty after an Egyptian defender handled the ball in the box.
Diva TIWA Lys stepped up to convert from the spot, sending Cameroon into halftime with a comfortable 3-0 cushion.
With momentum firmly on their side, Cameroon maintained their attacking flair in the second half. Tanazou completed her hat trick in style, finding the back of the net twice more in the 72nd and 84th minutes.
The return leg promises to be an electrifying encounter as Cameroon looks to seal their qualification on home turf in Bafoussam on January 18. With such a commanding lead, they are well-positioned to advance further in their World Cup quest.
