- Toulouse registered their fifth win in 22 outings in the French Ligue 1 championship
- Magri failed to add to his four goals this season despite shotting thrice
- The win is a perfect revenge for Toulouse that lost by the same score during the reversed fixture in December
FC Toulouse produced one of the shocking results of the French Ligue 1 championship on Sunday by defeating Monaco by 2-1 at the Stade Louis II in a game Cameroonian forward Frank Mario Magri lasted the duration.
Fresh from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Magri led the lines for the visitors to good effect, tormenting the Monaco defensive set up while creating openings for his fellow forwards to thrive.
Cape Verdean defender, Logan Costa who was also at the last AFCON and Vincent Sierro scored for Toulouse in either side of Maghnes Akliouche’s goal for Monaco in a night that was characterized by a swing in emotions.
Though Magri didn’t score from his three shots in the game, he also ensured he prevented the Monaco defensive crew from playing out from the back and connecting with the midfield which has always been coach Adi Hütter’s approach.
Therefore, the 24-year-old striker’s rally for the season remains at four goals in 19 matches in the French Ligue 1 but the win takes his club up to the 13th spot in the 20 clubs championship after picking up 23 points from 22 matches.
Magri and his club colleagues will quickly switch their attention to their UEFA Europa League knockout clash against Benfica at the Stadium of Toulouse this Thursday, hoping to overturn the 1-2 defeat created by their trip to Portugal last week.
