Sports Minister Attends U17 Girls Tourney to Support Game of Volleyball

The fervor and excellence of young athletes were on display as the Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, proudly stood among enthusiasts, cheering on the spirited clash between Nigeria and Egypt in the final of the 2023 Girls U17 African Nations Volleyball Championship, held at the B’ Package of the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Thursday.

Senator John Owan Enoh, a fervent believer of age-group sports for development, graced the event, emphasizing the importance of nurturing talent and promoting sportsmanship among the youth. He expressed his admiration for the dedication and prowess displayed by both teams, underscoring the significance of such competitions in fostering camaraderie and excellence in sports.

“I want to express profound gratitude to the African Volleyball Confederation for recognizing Nigeria’s commitment to fostering the growth of volleyball and providing a platform for young talents to showcase their skills on an international stage,” Senator Enoh said.

The Minister acknowledged and appreciated the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, led by Engr. Musa Nimrod for their unwavering support and partnership in driving the nation’s sports agenda forward. He added that the Federation’s leadership’s efforts have significantly contributed to the growth and success of volleyball in Nigeria. He gave kudos to the Federation for successfully hosting the rest of Africa during the championship.

In an exhilarating match that enthralled spectators, Egypt emerged triumphant in the final after a hard-fought battle against Nigeria with a 3-1 set score (25-21, 20-25, 25-22, 25-21).
