Christian Bassogog’s early goal wasn’t enough this Saturday as Michael Ngadeu Ngadjui’s 10-man Beijing Guoan came from behind to beat Shanghai Shensua on match day 23 of the Chinese Super League.
Bassogog’s early goal silenced the home fans at the Workers Stadium, but despite going down to ten men after the sending off of Hou Sen, coach Ricardo Soares team rallied to score twice through Fábio Abreu to earn a 2-1 win.
The action-packed contest had the best moments in the opening 45 minutes as Ngadeu and his mates were quick to overturn the deficit.
Bassogog put Shanghai Shensua ahead in the 14th minute of the game, finishing a fine move which rewarded the early dominance of the visitors.
That lead however lasted just 14 minutes as Angolan forward Abreu leveled matters just before the half hour mark.
Abreu completed his brace in the 37th minute as he made it 2-1, benefiting from a Zhang assist.
The host took the advantage to the break, but had a more difficult second segment to come.
Shanghai came back after the interval with more purpose and pushed for the equalizer through multiple incursions.
It became more of a difficult task after Zhang was sent off for a foul just outside the box.
The numerical advantage swing the game to the favour of the visitors who replaced Bassogog with a fresh attacking option but it wasn’t to be.
Beijing Guoan held to seal the win and back home all three points from the contest.
The latest win is Gouan’s tenth in 23 outings and it takes their points tally to 38, three points behind third-place Shanghai Shensua with nine round of matches left.
