Wydad fans classic gesture wins more support for Moroccan Football

Wydad Casablanca’s sensational supporters followed up their amazing support performance during Sunday’s CAF Champions League final with a class act.

The fans were in the mood to party last night at the Mohammed V stadium and applauded the team after the game despite their frustrating 1-1 draw that handed 2022/23 the CAF Champions League trophy to bitter-rivals Al Ahly SC of Egypt on a 3-2 aggregate win.

Attiat Allah gave Wydad the lead midway into the first segment but Mohammed Abdelmoneim canceled the advantage and won the trophy for the Red Devils with the goal deep into the second segment.

In all, it was an eventful night in the 50 000 capacity structure which was filled to the rafters, largely by fans of the home side.

Though many of the home fans left the ground disappointed by the fact that their team couldn’t win the trophy many were satisfied with the efforts made by Attiat Allah and his mates.

However the best attraction happened after the game.

Wydad and some members of the Ultra recycling team were pictured cleaning up not only for their own section of the stands but the Ahly fans section.

Two fans, dressed in Wydad colors while wearing football caps, were seen with two bin bags filled with litter (mostly bottles).

There was also a sweet moment as fans of the home side applauded their fans as they walked off the pitch.

Morocco has gained a reputation for similar gesture at previous international events and their admirable behaviour.

And it has become a recurring thing to see Wydad or Moroccan fans leaving no trace behind at stadiums.

Last year, during the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, they lost to South Africa in the final but cleaned the stadium while some fabs stayed behind to applaud their team and the winners for their efforts.
