Cameroon international Yvan Neyou opened his goalscoring account for Getafe CF as the La Liga side crushed lower-division outfit Inter de Valdemoro 11-0 in the Spanish Copa del Rey round of 64 on Wednesday night.
The 27-year-old midfielder, who joined Getafe this season, produced a commanding performance — scoring once and providing an assist in a one-sided affair that saw the Azulones progress comfortably to the next round.
Neyou’s strike marked his first goal in Getafe colours, underlining a growing confidence and adaptation to life in Madrid after spells in France with Saint-Étienne and Leganés.
The Cameroonian was instrumental in midfield, dictating the tempo and linking up brilliantly with the attacking trio as Getafe turned the game into a training session.
This impressive display will no doubt please coach José Bordalás, who has been steadily integrating Neyou into his plans since the player’s summer arrival.
With the win, Getafe advance to the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey, while Neyou’s performance serves as a timely reminder of his quality and versatility ahead of a busy La Liga schedule.
> “It feels good to get my first goal and help the team qualify. I’m adapting well, and I want to contribute more this season,” Neyou said after the match.
A promising sign for both club and country — as the midfielder looks to reclaim a place in Cameroon’s national setup ahead of next year’s international fixtures.
