Cotonsport’s full-back Hassana Mamoudou says the team’s zeal will not be affected by the 1-3 defeat in their CAF Champions League game against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Cassius Mailula scored twice to condemn the Garoua giants to a defeat in their first outing of the competition last Friday at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua.
Hassana who played full throttle has insisted that result is in no way the full value of the side while pledging better days ahead.
“Today we made individual errors and were punished. That’s the top level of this game for us,” Hassana who was helpless as his side conceded twice in the opening 15 minutes told the media after the game.
Though Cotonsport conceded another goal and scored before the 31st minute, they lost the game but Hassana puts a finger on the positives.
“We improved especially in the second segment. The start was bad but we finished the game stronger. This is the character we need in the next game.”
The defeat, plus Al Hilal’s shock 1-0 triumph against ten-time champions Al Ahly of Cairo meant Cotonsport drops to the tail of Group B, though with a game in hand.
The next game Hassana is targeting is next Friday’s cracker against Al Hilal at the age-old Roumde Adjia Stadium.
The fixture is Coton’s second game in this season’s competition against a guest keen on getting a result in their third outing.
