Victoria United FC have taken a giant step towards promotion to the Cameroon top-flight championship for the first time since their relegation in 2005.

The club returned to Elite football via the Interpools last August as vice champions of the competition and have not looked back since then.

Victoria United recorded a 2-0 victory against nine-man Rangers this Thursday in match day 18 of the Elite 2 championship at the Limbe Centenary stadium to enhance their promotion quest.

Opopo as they are fondly called have been the most in-form team in the second tier championship this 2023 season.

The Limbe-based outfit has picked up 11 victories and four draws in 18 games this campaign.

With five rounds of matches to go, Victoria United are points better than Stade Bertoua leading the chasing pack of Unisport and AS Lausanne.

Coach Guy Berlin’s Victoria United have the most efficient team in front of goal and defensively. They have scored 28 goals and conceded nine going into the last bend of the race to the top-flight championship.
