  • Andre Onana has kept three clean sheets in seven games this term
  • It is the first time the Cameroon international goes two games without conceded since he switched to Manchester
  • The clean sheet prepares ground for a meeting against the same opponent in the Premier League this weekend

Andre Onana put up another impressive display and kept a second consecutive clean sheet on Tuesday night at Old Trafford to help Manchester United beat Crystal Palace 3-0 in the fifth round of the Carabao Cup.

Onana who pulled an impressive five saves in the weekend win against Burnley made two saves on the night he had an over 90% pass accuracy to help United make it back-to-back wins without conceding.

The much-changed Manchester United side secured their place in the fourth round of the League Cup with a 3-0 victory.

First-half goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Casemiro helped Erik ten Hag’s side on their way into the last 16 of the competition they won last season, before Anthony Martial added a third after the restart.

Erik ten Hag’s side led after just 21 minutes, courtesy an Alejandro Garnacho goal. Diogo Dalot did brilliantly down the right-hand side to pull the ball back across the six-yard box and the young Argentine attacker pounced and fired home.

Sam Johnstone was sent to the back of his net almost immediately after the restart and Casemiro fired a thumping header from a Mason Mount corner to make it 2-0.

Anthony Martial killed the game when he made it 3-0 after 55 minutes to put United into full control.

Jean-Philippe Mateta called Onana to action in the 68th minute but the former Ajax Amsterdam keeper made a brilliant save to keep the score at 3-0.

Substitute Eberechi Eze also came close but was denied by another outstanding Onana save as United completely shot out Roy Hodson’s men.

The game finished 3-0 – a delight for Onana who has now kept three clean sheets in seven games since he joined Manchester United from Inter Milan.

With the victory and qualification in the bag, attention for both sides switch to the weekend, where a repeat of this fixture will be played in the Premier League and Onana is expected to give more.
