Former Super Eagles Player, Benedict Akwuegbu has expressed appreciation towards Nigeria National League ( NNL) on its planned refresher course for the second-tier league club coaches to prepare them ahead of the forthcoming football season.
The NNL in conjunction with the National Institute For Sports, Lagos (NIS) is organising a coaches training between October 15-18 at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State with all the 40 National League coaches expected to attend.
Some resource persons expected to be at the seminar includes: Director General of NIS, Prof. Olawale Moronkola, Technical Director of NFF, Austin Eguavoen and former Super Eagles player, Clement Temile and a Uefa licensed coach, Thiago Conde from Portugal amongst others.
Akwuegbu told the media from his base in London that the NNL board is on the right track and must be supported in their bid to upgrade the knowledge of the country’s coaches.
“I must commend the leadership of NNL for this noble idea of organising a seminar for coaches where they will be taught the most modern techniques of coaching.
The initiative is worthy of praise because that’s what is obtainable in other parts of the world. Such seminars apart from upgrading the coaches’ knowledge about the game, will also help in equipping them adequately ahead of the league,” he stressed.
Akwuegbu appealed to the participants to make adequate use of the opportunity offered by the course as the certificate they will receive at the end of the seminar will help in enhancing their progression on the job.
