The Football Association of Uganda (FUFA) have announced the Cranes will host the Desert Foxes of Algeria in their next 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Cameroon.
The decision was taken this Tuesday and communicated to CAF after local constructors didn’t show enough to hope for the readiness of the Nelson Mandela stadium before the June window.
Last month, Uganda hosted its AFCON qualifier encounter against Tanzania at Suez canal stadium in Egypt but has now decided to go to Cameroon.
In a statement released this Tuesday, the Football ruling body confirmed the decision to go to Cameroon.
The choice has been made in order to beat the set deadline by CAF for all federations to submit names of venues to be used for the qualifiers latest this April 24.
Uganda are in group F alongside Algeria , Tanzania and Niger.
Currently tied on 4 points with neighbors Tanzania, Algeria top the log with 12 points Niger sitting bottom without 2 points.
