Cameroonian midfielder Olivier Ntcham and Chadian forward Marius Mouandilmadji plus Arbnor Muja were the scorers on Sunday evening at the Mersin Stadyumu.
Mouandilmadji, the team’s highest goalscorer from last season finally delivered by scoring his first goal of the season.
The forward operating players made the difference in the match day three fixture as the visitors picked up their second victory of the season.
Hatayspor was without Guy-Marcelin Kilama, who was serving a suspension due to a red card in the last game.
Hatayspor’s start to the Super Lig season has been challenging, with the team currently sitting 17th in the table after three matches.
They have managed to secure only one point, with their campaign kicking off with a narrow 2-1 defeat against Galatasaray, followed by a 1-1 draw at home against Kasimpasa, and a 3-2 loss away to Antalyaspor plus the 0-3 loss.
While their ability to score has been evident, with four goals in their opening matches, their defence has been leaky, conceding six goals. This defensive vulnerability is something that head coach Ozhan Pulat will need to address urgently if the Guneyin Yildizi are to turn their season around.
Ntcham’s goal will help his confidence before his trip to Cameroon to begin the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers with matches against Namibia and Zimbabwe in perspective on September 7 and 10 respectively.
Chad’s Mouandilmadji, who previously played for Cotonsport will also be coming to Cameroon omas they host Cote d’Ivoire on September 10 in Yaoundé after playing against Sierra Leone away in match day one.
