SWRL playoff gets underway this weekend in Buea

The play-offs to determine the regional champions of the Southwest Regional championship will begin this Saturday in Buea.

Eight clubs who occupied the top two positions across Pool A to D of the championship will descend on the turf of the Molyko Omnisport stadium, hoping to get the treasured ticket to represent the region during the 2023 national playoffs planned for next month in Yaounde.

 

From Pools A to D, NQSA, Istanbul FA, Tiko United FC,Best Stars Academy, ISOHSA of Limbe, Buea United, Kumba City FC and Bright Stars Academy are expected to compete to determine the ambassador of the region’s football at the Interpools.

The competition gets underway on Saturday, with two fixtures at the Molyko Omnisport stadium. NQSA will battle Best Stars Academy while Tiko United FC will be up against Istanbul FA.

On Sunday, Bright Stars of Kumba face ISOHSA in the first game, before Kumba City FC versus Buea United FC cap the day.

The winners of the quarter-final fixture will play a two-leg semi-final tie on Wednesday and on Saturday to determine the finalists.

The eventual winner of the tournament will represent the Southwest at the Interpools to run from July 15-30th in Yaounde.

Last year’s regional champions, Victoria United FC went on to qualify for Elite Two and recently earned promotion to Elite 1.
