Cameroon International Jean Pierre Nsame was on target for Young Boys Bern to secure a 2-1 win over Winterthur to finish first in the league and eventually become the top scorer this 2022/23 football season.

Nsame,30, opened scores at the 30th minute before substitute Kastriot Imeri cancelled Roman Buess’ equalizer to extend their games won to 21 out of 36 played. They occupy the first position with 74 points, 16 ahead of second place Servette.

The Cameroonian striker counts 21 goals scored plus four assists in 33 games played in the Swiss super league this season.

This is the 4th time Nsame finishes as top scorer in Swiss. He finished the 2019-20 season as the league’s top goal scorer with 32 goals scored in 32 games played, that saw Young boys Bern clinch both the Swiss league and Cup.

In 2016, he helped Servette finish third after emerging top scorer of the league with 23 goals and scored 19 during the 2020-21 season.

He finished the 2017-18 season with 13 goals, 2018-19 with 15 goals, 2020-21 with 19 goals and end this season top of the goal scorers chat.

Nsame has had an arguably consistent and convincing stay at the club. However, it seems not to be enough to convince head coach of the Cameroon National team, Rigoberto Song who failed to use him during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and left him out of the 2023 African Cup of Nations(AFCON) qualifier squad.

Young Boys Bern are champions of the Swiss championship for the 16th time. Nsame scored three goals to earn the club a 5-1 win over Lucerne.
