Cameroonian midfielder Leandre Willy Esombe Onana has agreed to a deal to join Simba SC from Rwandan franchise Rayon Sports of Kigali.
The goal scoring midfielder has agreed a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee pending medical and other formalities to enhance registration.
Onana was spotted in Dar Es Salaam late last week as he went to finalize details to enhance the long-awaited transfer which will enable him to reconnect with manager Robertino with whom he worked in the past.
The box-to-box midfielder had a great season in Rwanda; emerged top scorer of the domestic championship. He scored 16 goals in 20 games to win the Golden Boot.
His performance last season attracted interest from a number of clubs, but Robertino’s presence at Simba eased the decision for the native of Yaounde.
The switch to the multiple champions will make him the first Cameroonian to play for Simba SC and add him to the list of compatriots to play in the Tanzanian Premier League.
