Cameroon International and Al-Tawoun striker, Leandre Gael Tawamba scored the winning goal in Matchday 11 of the league against 11th placed Al Read.
Stage on December 31st, 2022, the Cameroonian forward stroke late in to the game to add to his side’s already 2-1 lead and hand them all three points.
Tawamba, 33, scored at the 84th minute, just five minutes before he was substituted.
It was Alejandro Romero who opened scores some five minutes into the game to give Al-Tawoun the lead and then center defense man Naldo, double at the 40th minute.
Just before they could take a break, Al Read forward, Julio Tavares pulled one back to seperate them on a 1-2 scoreline.
The Cameroonian forward, Leandre Tawamba widened the gap with the third goal for Al-Tawoun to take them to 4th place on the league’s table with now 23 points, a point ahead of the most decorated club in Asia, Al Hilal.
A penalty in favour of Al Read deep into extra time which Mohammed Fouzair converted, helped the host close up the gap but failed to get an equalizer and so Tawamba’s last strike for Al-Tawoun handed them all three points in this encounter.
Tawamba who was sidelined for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, ends the year with a remarkable rescue goal.
Having made about 10 appearances in the Saudi Pro league this 2022/23 season, this is Tawamba’s third goal and he also counts one assist delivered so far.
It should be noted that Tawamba joined Al-Tawoun in 2018 and was the club’s top goal scorer of the 2018/19 season with 27 goals across all competitions.
