Real Madrid foundation will organize a sports camp for youth footballers in the city of Douala come June 19th to 25th, 2023.
The team working in close collaboration with the Douala Urban council will select 125 boys and girls between the ages of 6 to 17 years, to take part in this camp.
In a press conference organised in the Economic capital of Cameroon on Wednesday February 22 , the Spanish delegation headed by Andrès Muntaner explained, the project will help inculcate the universal values of sport to the young atlethes.
“The Real Madrid Foundation has been fortunate to partner with the city of Douala to celebrate joy and positive experiences for children. Children for whom we share the same vision. The vision of helping them to change their future through sport and all-round education.”
The selection process has been given to Douala Council who intend to work with close collaborators in the city. The foundation explains how 20 children from orphanage home will be randomly selected in the exercise.
“For a week, children, girls and boys, will share the universal values that football conveys. The values of teamwork, respect, the cult of effort, of solidarity,” Andrès Muntaner explained.
This initiative first proposed in Yaounde has been wholeheartedly welcomed by the Douala Council, who sees this as an opportunity to empower the youths.
“We want to reassure our hosts in Madrid that the city of Douala can only be in favor of this kind of project. We are going to work hard because this project is important,” Geremi promised.
Since its creation 25 years ago, the Real Madrid Foundation has helped ensure education, development for vulnerable people in more than 90 countries.
