The world’s most expensive female football player, Rachel Kundananji made a stunning debut for Bay FC in the National Women’s Soccer on Saturday.

The 23-year-old emerged from the bench in the 62nd minute, replacing Nigerian star Asisat Oshoala to score a fantastic goal that will see her side tied with visitors, Houston Dash in the 92nd minute.

The former Madrid CFF player whose debut was delayed due to an injury she sustained last month against Ghana in the Olympic Games qualifiers finally got her dream start

Unfortunately, Havana Marguerite Solaun’s last-gasp goal will put Bay FC at the losing end 3-2.

Nevertheless, Kundananji’s achievement resonated far beyond the scoreline. She became the first Zambian player to find the net in the NWSL, a feat celebrated by fans and fellow players alike.

In a poignant display of pride, Kundananji rushed for the Zambian flag, unfurling it in front of a sold-out crowd of 18,000 at the PayPal stadium.

Her remarkable debut goal made history and set the stage for her next challenge: joining the Copper Queens in Ndola for the back-to-back 2024 Paris Olympic Qualifiers against Morocco.

The first leg is scheduled for April 5 at the Levy Mwanawansa Stadium.
