NWFL Matchday 14: Remo Stars Ladies defeat Sunshine Queens

Sunshine Queens Football Club of Akure lost 2-1 to Remo Stars Ladies in the last match of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL ).

The match day 14 played at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikene Ogun State saw the host score in the 35 minutes of the encounter from a corner kick.

Bolaji Olamide effort to score a leveler for Sunshine Queens was denied by the host Goalkeeper in the 43 minutes.

The host maintained their lead till the center referee signalled end of the first half.

The hostility continued in the second half with the host extending their lead to 2-0 in the 54 minutes.

Taiwo Ajibade reduced the deficit for Sunshine Queens in the 56 minutes with the visitors intensifying efforts to level up.

But the Remo Stars Ladies defense tightened up and ensured the visitors did not get the needed equaliser.

The encounter ended in favour of the host, with the 2015 Women Federation Cup champions sent back to the lower league.

Sunshine Queens were drawn in the group of the 2023/24 Nigeria Women Football abridged league with Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens Delta Queens, FC Robo and Ekiti Queens.
