As Akwa United gear up for what will be their first home match of the current Nigeria Premier Football League against Sporting Lagos, the club has informed its numerous fans that matchday tickets will be available for sale at the match venue on Sunday.

According to the team manager Sir Emmanuel Udoh, matchday tickets will be sold at affordable rates of five hundred (N=500) and one thousand (N=1,000) naira only at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Nest of Champions every match day.

Sir Udoh revealed that the decision of the club to reintroduce gate takings is to help the club generate revenue and also provide adequate safety and security measures during matches. He added that there will be no complimentary tickets for any person or associations, just as identity cards will not admit anyone during matches.

“As we all know, football is a big business all over the world and we as want to also take advantage of the many opportunities that are abound in football.

“Akwa United is a big brand and we are determined to market our brand and that can only be achieved with the support and encouragement from all our fans and critical stakeholders in Akwa Ibom State and beyond.

“We have had series of meetings with the leadership of Akwa Ibom State Football Normalisation Committee, Sports Writers Association ( SWAN) Coaches and Referees Associations and other critical Stakeholders, and there is a consensus that government alone cannot saddle the responsibility of running football in these hard times.

“Some business minded clubs in the NPFL have enjoyed good support from their fans through ticket sales and we cannot afford to be left behind anymore, that is why we are appealing to all our fans, supporters and stakeholders to understand and cooperate with us to succeed in the management of our darling team”.

The team manager appealed to fans and supporters of the club to continue to show love and support to the team and assured that the club is determined to make the state proud in the current season.

Akwa United lost their opening day fixture in Yenagoa against Bayelsa United and will be hoping to record their first victory on Sunday against the NPFL new boys.
