  • Ikose Njuma’s late goal hands bragging rights to the People’s Royal Elephants
  • Njuma scored a brace to take his season tally to ten goals in 14 games

Ikose Njuma Conrad scored a brace while Ndjock Martinez got the other to secure maximum points, earning Isle of Hope Sports Academy (ISOHSA) of Limbe a 3-2 comeback win against Foncha Street this Sunday in a frantic MTN Elite Two match day five relegation playoffs tussle.

ISOHSA improved their survival chances, as the win took their points tally to ten points, a point behind pacesetters Unisport of Bafang and YAFOOT who settled for a goalless stalemate in the other clash in Bafang.

Coach Joseph Ndoko’s ISOHSA entered the Anglophone derby planning to build on their 4-1 win against Leopard Sportif of Douala last Thursday.

Lowly-rated Foncha Street FC, who were fresh from their first win after four matches this season conceded an Ikose Njuma Conrad goal just before half-time. They somehow established a 2-1 lead with a brace from Ignatius Ojong in either side of half-time at the Bafang Municipal stadium, but eventually lost.

Njuma put ISOHSA ahead in the 44th minute of the game, toe-poking a fine cross from Arrey Jefta Oduak to take his goal tally for the season to nine.

Foncha Street responded almost immediately after the ISOHSA defense fail to deal with a tempting ball into the box from a Clinton Manyi set-piece. Ojong bundled the spilled ball into Abianda Ghislaine’s net to make it 1-1.

Ojong completed his brace just after the pause, directing a near post ball from a flat corner onto the roof of Abianda’s net to make it 2-1 for Foncha Street that had been second best all afternoon.

Foncha Street nearly put the game out of ISOHSA reach when Bakada Carter attempted lobbing Abianda from the half way line. The keeper produced a textbook save to keep it at 2-1.

Coach Ndoko threw in captain Ashu Brice and Ndjock Martinez Brandon in place of Kouo Ulrich Nongnong and Albert Tiku Egbe respectively in a tactical adjustment that saw Wilson Joseph Jnr redeployed to the heart of the defense.

With Arrey Jefta, Ghangle Rattensi and Ivan Yatchet Berthold applying the pressure, ISOHSA reduced the deficit in the 69th minute through Ndjock.

The forward scored from his first involvement, after receiving a well-worked Njuma pass into his path in the right flank with which he beat the Foncha Street keeper with a new post finish.

Njuma completed his brace, finishing an excellent passage of play to make it 3-2. The strike was his ten in 14 games this season.

Mbeng Joel and Serge Bengono had a great ball to finish off the Foncha resistance but somehow spewed the efforts over the bar.

The game finished 3-2 in favor of the Limbe outfit which takes their points tally to ten in five games.

ISOHSA remains on the third spot in the log with ten points while Foncha Street is fifth with five points.

The People’s Royal Elephants will grind ashes with leaders Unisport of Bafang in the next round of matches on Wednesday while Foncha Street are up against unbeaten YAFOOT.
