  • The result is a revenge of Fauve Azur’s 3-1 win from the same fixture last season.

Paulin Banda, Hansi Mbappe Muller and Emmanuel Ebubechukwu were the scorers for Fovu of Baham as they beat Fauve Azur Elite by 3-0 in the late match day five fixture of the 2023/24 MTN Elite One championship this Monday in Yaoundé.

Ndoumbe Bosso’s team manifested its quality again, scoring twice in the second segment to add to Banda’s early goal that set them en route e to their biggest win this season.

Fovu entered the game in full confidence after their comeback win against Victoria United FC in the previous round of matches.

The visitors controlled the early moments of the game attended by a handful at the Omnisport Annex stadium and eventually found their breakthrough.

Banda put the ball past Biandao in goal for Fauve Azur Elite after 30 minutes of total Fovu dominance. The goal was a clear picture of the balance of the game coach Guy Djiepnang’s team had been second best right up to the moment they conceded.

Hansi Mbappe Muller made it 2-0 just after the break. The former Fauve Azur forward showed himself and converted a penalty his side won following a careless challenge in the penalty area.

The goal was Mbappe’s first of the season as he had gone on a run of four games without scoring after his opener in the Cup of Cameroon final last month.

Ebubechukwu completed scoring when he got Fovu’s third and his first goal of the campaign to make sure all three points return to Baham.

Fovu took their feet off the pedal after getting the third goal, defended deeply till the end to ensure they add three points to their season tally.

The win is the club’s third in five outings this season. The result puts Fovu back on track in the race for one of the promotion spots before the two weeks break in the MTN bankrolled championship.
