Match Preview: Heartland Queens target Nasarawa Amazons’ scalps in NWFL Premiership

A marquee matchup and performance is afoot on Wednesday when the homers, Heartland Queens square up against former champions, Nasarawa Amazons in NWFL table top matchday 10 game at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

Going into Wednesday’s crunch second ever topflight clash between the premier leaguers, the Owerri mainstreams shared the spoils with the hosts, Royal Queens in Sapele while the Solid Minerals side whiplashed hapless Naija Ratels with five unanswered goals at their backyard in Lafia.

The Owerri side still feel severely hurt by the first term lone goal defeat to the Lafia landladies in Lafia which they strongly believed was heavily skewed to favour the home side.

Prior to the November 22, 2023 matchday 2 clash in Lafia, Heartland Queens were group’s leaders but the shoes are on the other legs as the Lafia landladies are atop of the log going into matchday10 game.

However that prime position is somehow delicately poised and would change after 90 minutes on Wednesday to suit the Owerri landladies with the slimmest of victory. And with that setting on the table this marquee’s reverse fixture will be hotly fought and fierce, too.

Coach Obi Ogbala is spoiled for choices especially in the upfront and the side’s talisman, Lucky Mary is certain to lead the attack while supports will come among the quartet, Chimebere Opara, Onyinyechi Kalu, Chinwendu Orji and lethal finisher, Chinedu Chinaka.

Of course, records chasing netminder, Uchenna Chukwu will keep the gloves and will get adequate coverage from the hard-as-nails defenders, Ekezie Onyedikachi, Chinyere Iheoma, Kelechi Orgii and Oluomachi Onwere.

The midfield will be manned by the ever effective foursome, Oluchi Ofoegbu, Oluchi Okwara, Marvellous Duru and Chidinma Anaele.

Victory in the dugout will see the homers displace the leaders and opponents, Nasarawa Amazons at the top of the eight-team group’s log.
