Budding Cameroonian Futsal referee, Elingui Mindjih Eric plus Ukah Ndubissi and Musa Davou of Nigeria have been named in a Confederation of African Football (CAF) squad of 22 officials – including three Moroccan invited to Morocco for the pre-2024 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) camp this month to prepare for the finals in April, kick442.com can report.
Elingui who replaced Yves Eyebe as a FIFA referee badge holder in 2018 is the only Cameroonian in the multi-national squad that includes two colleagues each from Angola, Egypt, Libya, Senegal, Nigeria, South Africa and Tunisia. Mozambique, Equatorial Guinea, Algeria and Côte D’Ivoire all have one official on the list while host Morocco is the most-represented with three referees.
The training is expected to run for two weeks from the end of this month, after which CAF will publish the final squad of officials for the tournament.
If Elingui is retained, the 2024 Futsal AFCON will be his second. He made his international continental competition debut in the last tournament that held in Morocco.
The physical education tutor in his native Cameroon is one of the high-profile officials in his country and regularly on duty for CAF, including handling the recent AFCON qualifier crunch tie between Algeria and Libya.
He is expected to join his colleagues to deliver a great performance in the tournament especially after the landmark officiating that characterized AFCON 2023 a few weeks back in Côte D’Ivoire.

Host, Morocco are pooled in group A alongside 2020 third best finishers Angola, Ghana and returnees Zambia.
Since its inception in 1996, only three countries have reached glory namely Egypt, Libya and the Atlas Lions.
More history beckons for Morocco are eying a third consecutive success, a record held by all-time winners Egypt.
Morocco first won the trophy in South Africa 2016, victory for Morocco at this year’s finals will see them match Egypt’s record of winning it on two occasions as hosts (1996, 2000).
Contenders Libya and Egypt are pooled in group B alongside newcomers Namibia and Mauritania.
The tournament scheduled to take place from 11th-21st April, the tournament will see the top three nations secure automatic qualification for this year’s FIFA Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan.
