Marc Brys to publish Indomitable Lions squad this week?

Indomitable Lions head coach Marc Brys is said to make public his first squad of players preselected for Cameroon’s match day three and four FIFA of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier matches against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde and the Palancas Negras of Angola next month.

Reports from Cameroon’s national Radio and Television, CRTV have it that coach the Belgian tactician has a clear picture of the 35 players to be pre-selected for June FIFA engagement and it could be public domain information by the weekend.

This development indicates the coach has been given assurances to carry on with his work, despite the growing tension between the Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT) president Samuel Eto’o Fils and the government of the country.

Since the appointment of Brys in March as the replacement of Rigobert Song Bahanag, there has been a battle of words between president Eto’o and the government of Cameroon.

At some point in time, Eto’o said the Executive committee of FECAFOOT had ordered him to name a new technical crew within 72 hours.

Three weeks down the line there hasn’t been any evolution of the situation. President Eto’o feels belittled by the government’s decision to pick the former Al Raed and Royal Mouscron trainer while the government says they settled for the Belgian because his demands were within their resources at a time Eto’o’s options demanded record-breaking sums.

In the heart of the standoff, coach Brys has put together a list of players after a two-week tour in Europe plus online meetings and is now ready to render it public.

We understand FECAFOOT reached out to FIFA last week asking them to intervene as they feel the government is intruding, but the World football governing body advised its member association to sort the situation with its government while making a number of recommendations.

We understand there are going to be a number of changes in the list of players to be called up by coach Brys, including some players of the domestic championship, but a bulk of them will be regulars of the national team in the past five years.

The likes of Michael Ngadeu, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Jean Emile Onana and Martin Hongla who were strangely omitted by Rigobert Song are expected to make a comeback.
