South Champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies won their second COSAFA (Southern Africa) title after a 2-0 win over Double Action on Friday.
Chuene Morifi gave the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League winners the lead in the fifth minute of action.
Nonhlanhla Mthandi doubled the lead in the 52nd minute to clinch the title.
Sundowns won all their five games against Olympic Do Moroni (8-0), Young Buffaloes (4-0), and Costa Do Sol (4-0) to top Group B with an invincible result.
With a 3-1 win over 2022 winners, Green Buffaloes of Zambia sealed a place in the final where they earned a 2-0 win on Friday.
The win qualified the team for the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League in Ivory Coast.
For the third time, Sundowns has qualified for the CAF Women’s Champions League after participating in the 2021 and 2022 editions, reaching the final on both occasions.
They joined holders, ASFAR FC (Morocco), SC Casablanca (Morocco), JKT Queens (Tanzania), Ampem Darkoa (Ghana), Athletico FC (Ivory Coast), and AS Mande (Mali) in qualifying for the tournament.
The winner of the UNIFFAC Zonal Qualifiers will join the seven qualified teams.
