Promising Lille midfielder Carlos Noom Quomah Baleba, has been included in the French Ligue 1 best XI of match day 37 following his outstanding input in his club’s 2-1 win against FC Nantes of compatriots Ignatius Ganago and Jean Charles Castelletto.

The midfield potential was phenomenal as Paulo Fonseca’s side dispatched struggling Nantes to keep their chance of making continental competition next season.

Baleba started for the second game in a row and lasted the duration of regular time before being replaced in the game Jonathan David converted two penalties to cancel the early advantage Q Merlin had given the visitors.

Just like last week, Baleba won a penalty after he was punched in the head by the opposition goalkeeper as he reached out for a ball from a corner.

That game deciding moment and his tireless work rate all afternoon earned him a spot in the XI that had Baleba and Jonathan David as the Lille contingent.

Rennes, Marseille, Nice and a number of other teams are represented in the latest edition of the team of the week.

Lille are currently fourth on the log with one round of matches left before the close of the current season.

Baleba has made two assists, winning two penalties in 18 Ligue 1 appearances this season but it is the first time the EFBC graduate makes the L’Equipe team of the week.
