Forward Adrienne Makuko scored a hat-trick to secure a comfortable 4-0 win for defending champions, Lekie Filles FC on Saturday as the Guinness Super League championship resumed with game week 12 fixtures.

Makuko and Tiwa Melong Lys ensured last year’s Guinness Super League champions remind their rivals of their qualities despite enduring a difficult season so far.

Lekie entered the contest knowing a win could be a perfect reaction to their 4-2 defeat in the reversed fixture in the opening weekend of the championship a few months back in Douala.

Captain Tim Shalom joined her Authentic Ladies colleagues 24 hours before the game after her release from the Indomitable Lionesses squad just like Kiki Meva, Nana Oceanne, Ngo Bilong and a host of others returning from the U-20 Women’s championship in Douala.

Stephane Ndzana had al.ost his best team and made it count on the day.

The host started the game on the front foot, dominating in almost every aspect though their finishing could have been better.

Melong finally took advantage of one of the multiple mistakes at the Authentic Ladies back line to make it 1-0 for the Yaoundé outfit.

Authentic Ladies had chances to react at the other end but solid defensive interventions and poor final balls left the score unchanged.

The hosts’ search for the game’s assurance goal forced coach Ndzana to introduce experienced Tantoh Melvis in expectation that she can add value to the defensive chores at the middle of the pack and also provide killer balls.

The search for the game settling goal was rewarded during the closing stages of the game as Makuko scored a hat-trick in four minutes. Goals at the 87, 88 and 91st minutes ensured Lekie bags home all three points and moves above Authentic Ladies with 28 points, two better than the Douala outfit.

Lekie are three points away from current leaders, FC Ebolowa who have a game in hand against Louves Minprof on Tuesday.
