Authentic Ladies of Douala Duo Tim Shalom Makoma Ngam and Chahkes Odette Fukuin were treated to a special reception on arrival in Ngaoundere on Friday ahead of their match day 16 Guinness Super League fixture against home side Ngadeu FFA.

The football loving Kom people showed up at the team’s base in their numbers after the team’s pre-match training, spoke at length with the duo and their team mates before handing packs of water and other gifts to the team while promising them full support during their stay and game against Ngadeu FFA.

“We are proud, our heads held high as we receive our daughters and their team with this little gesture while preparing more. Our women are putting all in place to make their stay here successful. We take full responsibility and thank Guinness Cameroon for everything they are doing to these and al the girls in their championship,” the grouping led by president Ntam Paul Nkwain said.

Though the players didn’t comment on the gesture because of pre-match routines and guidelines, they were visibly satisfied by the gesture and support they get from their tribespeople wherever they go.

Shalom and Odette started their careers in Northwest Cameroon, played for Belo Progressive Ladies and Vision Sports of Bamenda together before switching to Authentic in the build up to the current season.

Both girls have been key to president Ballock John’s team in their second season in the Cameroon women’s top-flight championship.

Defender, Chahkes has featured in all-but-two of the club’s 15 games this season while Shalom has played all 15 matches either operating as a forward or a midfielder.

Both players as well as all Elite and amateur footballers of the Kom land receive huge support from their community whenever they are in Douala.

Ngadeu FFA of president Dimitri Ngadeu host Athentic this Saturday at the Ndoumbe Oumar stadium in a 2PM kickoff fixture counting for match day 16 of the Guinness Super League.
