Cotonsport’s teenage midfield sensation Kaiba Djawal, has become the first player to score for four different categories of the Cameroon National team, in a Calendar year.

The 19_year_old midfielder netted the opener in the U20 lions’ one all draw against host Congo Brazzaville, in the opening game of the UNIFFAC Zone qualifiers for the U20 AFCON ongoing in Brazzaville.

Coach Yvan Kenmoe named Kaiba as captain, and the teenager stepped up at the 26th minute of play to convert a penalty that put Cameroon in front, before Jacques Ndecket levelled scores shortly before the break.

Kaiba’s 26th minute goal means he has now scored for the Intermediate lions, the U20 lions, the indomitable lions and the U20 lions this calendar year 2022, a record which is one of it’s kind in the history of Cameroon football.

The cotonsport midfielder was on target for the intermediate lions on September 04, at the Roumde Adja stadium in Garoua, when Cameroon overturned a goal deficit against Equatorial Guinea, to qualify for the 2023 African Nations Championship.

On October 22, Kaiba scored Cameroon’s first goal in their 3#2 away win over Angola in the U23 AFCON qualifiers, and then came off the bench on November 09, at the Amadou Ahidjo Stadium, to score the equalizer for the indomitable lions of Cameroon at the 74th minute, in their 1_1 pre_world cup friendly against Jamaica.

His goal in Brazzaville this Thursday December 08, put the youngster in a class of his own, as he continues to show great progress in the arts.

Kaiba Djawal has had a scintillating season for both club and country. He scored seven league goals and provided a further nine assist for Cotonsport on their way to winning a domestic double this year, and has been instrumental in the Cotton weavers reaching the CAF Champions League Group Stage.

Another big task that awaits Kaiba and his U20 lions teammates, is the search for a qualification ticket for the U20 AFCON schedule for Egypt next year, with two games left to play against DR Congo and the Central African Republic.
