Joseph Momasso scored the lone goal this Sunday in Garoua as Dynamo of Douala beat Gazelle FA 1-0 in a tight match day eight contest of the 2023/24 MTN Elite One championship.
Momasso’s strike midway into the second segment was all it took for U
Yves Clement Arroga’s charges to pick up a fifth win and tighten their grip on the top spot in group A.
Though they were without top scorer Leonel Ateba Christian Mbida, the Bona Ba Djob took the game to the Northerners, creating the best chances throughout the first segment.
The visitors were rewarded for their efforts early into the second segment when Momasso beat Marcelin Mbahbi from a close range effort.
Though Gazelle FA had a couple of half chances during the rest of the afternoon, Dynamo’s lead was protected till the end of the contest.
The final whistle from the team of match officials signaled Dynamo’s fifth victory in eight outings and takes their points tally to 17, considering the two other draws and a defeat registered so far this season.
Newly-promoted Dynamo is four adrift of second-seeded Bamboutos FC that lost against Colombe.
They will face Union Sportive of Douala in a Littoral regional derby next Sunday in match day nine of the championship.
