Former Cameroon international goalkeeper Idriss Carlos Kameni has been appointed as the new goalkeeper coach of the Haiti national team, marking a fresh chapter in his coaching career.
Kameni joins the Grenadiers under new Spanish head coach David BadÃa, who took charge of Haiti earlier this year. BadÃa is preparing the team for the 2026–27 Concacaf Nations League, with Haiti competing in League A.
The appointment will be of particular interest in Cameroon, given Kameni’s recent involvement with the Indomitable Lions. The former national-team goalkeeper served as Cameroon’s goalkeeper coach under head coach Marc Brys, forming part of the technical staff during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
Kameni’s return to the international scene comes after a remarkable playing career that saw him represent Cameroon at the highest level. He was part of the squad that won Olympic gold in 2000 and lifted the Africa Cup of Nations in 2002.
The former Espanyol and Málaga goalkeeper is now taking his expertise to Haiti, where he will work with the country’s goalkeepers as the Grenadiers begin a new cycle following their participation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Haiti’s Nations League campaign begins on September 24 against Trinidad and Tobago, before a September 27 meeting with Costa Rica. The Grenadiers will then face the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica again in October. The competition also provides a route to qualification for the 2027 Concacaf Gold Cup.
For Kameni, the move represents another opportunity to develop his coaching career on the international stage — this time helping Haiti’s goalkeepers prepare for a demanding regional campaign.
