History as UNIFFAC opens Women’s national team coaches seminar with eight MAs

  • UNIFFAC started an unprecedented capacity building workshop for National team coaches this Thursday in Douala
  • For the first time in a long time all eight member associations of the region are attending the event

For the first time in over a decade, all eight member associations are represented in an event organised by the Union of Central Africa Football Association (UNIFFAC) gathered its women’s national team coaches for a three days capacity building workshop started this Thursday, November 21 in Douala.

Coaches of the U-20 and senior national teams of Cameroon, DR Congo, Congo, Chad, Central Africa Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon Sao Tome and Principe were present president Guy Blaise Jean Mayolas declared open the three days event at 8AM at the Vallee de Prince Hotel in Douala.

Amongst the participants was Cameroon’s Hassan Balla Ibrahim whose exploits at the last women’s U-20 FIFA World Cup earned him the CAF coach of the year award, the national team of the year award plus nominations of two of his players in three slots.

The event which put together the guiding brains of women’s football in the sub region plus FIFA Regional Director Etienne Sockeng, Engelbert Mbarga of Cameroon and CAF Technical expert Mohamed Magasouba saw the participants exchange on improving techniques and approaches to improve their performance and better output in their respective national teams.

Amongst others the coaches are expected to discuss dealing with impromptu unplanned situations during matches, preparing for training camps, bettering their collaboration with administrators plus dealing with the case of first aid and the case of quick intervention during accidents in matches.

FIFA Regional Director Etienne Sockeng grouped the coaches into four groups and tasked them to work on different aspects of the game.

At the end of the training the participants will receive a certificates for the knowledge obtained during this period.

UNIFFAC has multiplied capacity building activities in an attempt to catch up with the continental standards and be more competitive.
