Guinea’s Kaba Diawara set sights on quarter finals after last minute victory against Equatorial Guinea

The coach of Guinea, Kaba Diawara says his team has to be prepared to give their best when they play the quarter finals of the Africa Nations Cup on Friday.

Kaba Diawara made the remark after his team scored a late goal against Equatorial Guinea to seal a quarter finals spot in the ongoing AFCON.

“Actually we did not have a goal but want to go as far as possible. Today we played Equatorial Guinea. The next game is on Friday and we have to prepare for it and give our best”, Kaba Diawara said.

Guinea qualified as one of the best third placed teams after the group stage of the tournament and have now qualified for the quarter finals for the first time since 1976.

According to Kaba Diawara, the qualification represents a lot due to it’s historic nature.

“This is actually a feeling of pride. I don’t like talking about myself. This group is very reliable and have the quality needed”, he said.

He added that, “Bayo scored this goal but he wasn’t the one expected because all of the players were prepared. As a coach, I am very happy”, he added.

Talking about the quarter final match, Kaba Diawara noted that they is no special tactic and his team will only concentrate on playing good football.
