- Tantoh Melvis scored for the first time this season
- Lekie Filles were pegged back from a one goal lead in the clash of the potential champions on Saturday
- Fans who attended the game left satisfied with the performances of both sidesÂ
Lekie Filles midfielder Tantoh Melvis Ngifor scored the lone goal for the defending champions as they sacrificed a one goal to settle for a one-all draw against aspiring champions FC Ebolowa on Saturday at the Ngoa Ekelle stadium in Yaoundé.
The match day 15 Guinness Super League championship title decider between the top two clubs in the championship didn’t disappoint as Meyegue Bernardette cancelled the lead.
Unbeaten FC Ebolowa entered the contest on the heels of their goalless draw against Authentic Ladies last weekend in Douala while Lekie Filles on a good run of form were hoping for a win to move to the top of the log for the first time this season.
Tantoh put coach Stephane Ndzana’s team ahead after 14 minutes but ten minutes later the Oudou Kpoumie girls restored parity.
Though there were a number of exciting moments especially in the second segment of the game to entertain the thousands of fans present, there wasn’t another goal to match the spectacle produced.
The game ended in a draw, making it FC Ebolowa’s fourth this season while Lekie Filles registered their second.
FC Ebolowa with 37 points from 15 games maintains their two points advantage atop the table as Lekie counts 35 points.
Wins elsewhere for third-place Authentic Ladies FC and Éclair of Sa’a in fourth spot reduces the gap between them and the table toppers going into the final seven games of the season.
